Welcome to RENNER Safaris Photo Workshops

Zion and Bryce National Parks in Utah
October 31 - November 4, 2009

Zion, the land of soaring rock formations and deep gorges is magnificent  in the fall. As the warm temperatures of summer have cooled and the trees become draped in their colors of autumn, Zion can be transformed into a stunning show of reds and gold often reflecting in quiet waters of the Virgin River.

At this time of year the dramatic, sheer, vertical cliffs along the Virgin River are often decorated with trees displaying a full range of vibrant colors.

The stunning rock formations are breathtaking!  Cathedral like stone monuments rise up thousands of feet before you in captivating majesty. Zion is truly a magical place of wonder!

Bryce Canyon is also a showplace with it's thousands of colorful hoodoos towering above the canyon floor. Sunrises and sunsets can be spectacular here with golden sweet light illuminating the sandstone formations intricately carved by wide ranging weather patterns of wind, rain and sun.

I have been been to Zion and Bryce many times and during the photo workshop we will visit the most beautiful places at the best time to photograph them. Some easy to moderate hiking will be involved in reaching some of the destinations.

While visiting Zion our plan is to use the town of Springdale as a home base. There are lots hotels in town and nice camp grounds nearby. Before making hotel reservations, check with me for details on discounted room rates.

The cost of this workshop is $725.00. Meals, lodging and transportation are not included in the workshop fee. This workshop is available to those using digital or film cameras. A deposit of $150.00 is required to hold a space and becomes non refundable on September 30, 2009.

The workshop fee covers my professional expertise on instructional photographic tours and workshop. I have spent considerable time in the areas where we will be going, searching out the best locations and times of year and time of day for lighting so we can capture the most dramatic photographs.

In this workshop you will learn to photograph landscapes, rivers, animals, birds, and what ever we find of interest in the field. Our focus will be on lighting, composition and depth of field and/or "F" stops made simple. These are the all important basics of photography. I will teach you to recognize optimum light for more dramatic photographs. We will cover composition and the rule of thirds, when to use it and when to break it for better photographs. Many people have problems figuring out F stops for depth of field. I will teach ways of making that easily understandable.

We will also cover these items:

  • camera body and lens selection
  • how to get perfect exposures every time
  • focusing tips
  • background selection
  • tripod and hand-holding techniques
  • moving subject versus still subject (camera settings)
Because the group size is small you will be able to receive as much personal instruction as needed.
Basically, It is a photo class out doors in a beautiful location where you will learn a great deal and have a tremendous amount of fun learning it!
It will be an outstanding and memorable experience!
I hope you will join me.
