This photographic safari is designed to showcase South Africa’s spectacular wildlife together with it’s superb scenic beauty. The first nine days are earmarked to explore three different private reserves on the boarder of the famous Kruger National Park with exclusive access to the Timbavati and Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserves. From there we fly north to Madikwe Private Reserve for three nights. The reserve is on the border with Botswana and  is home to 28 different mammal species species such as elephant, both black and white rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wild dog, and other plains game species.  Enjoy the thrill of photographing  abundant wildlife in the African bush during early morning, afternoon and nighttime game drives. This is a photo safari that is not to be missed!

Let the adventure begin when you board your flight to Johannesburg and travel across the Atlantic.

Friday: 19 September                                               Johannesburg

On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transfer to your hotel. (D) Overnight: Southern Sun Tambo Hotel

Saturday: 20 September                                         Sabi Sand Game Reserve

After breakfast, proceed to the airport by shuttle for your flight to Kruger Mpumalanga airport near Nelspruit.  On arrival you will be met and transfer to the camp located deep in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve.  The Sabi Sands is part of the largest Conservation area in South Africa and is the oldest of all the private reserves. It comprises of some 20 privately owned game lodges whose owners formed the association to promote and conserve the wildlife, fauna and flora of the reserve – there is no hunting allowed. It is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and there are no fences between the two reserves and game moves freely through this enormous reserve. At Nottens you can enjoy superb game viewing on game drives and bush walks, or find a spot on the lodge deck and keep a look out for movement at the waterhole. This Sabi Sands accommodation features paraffin lamps and candles, which replace electric lighting and create an authentic, romantic bush experience. Each suite has an open plan bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. All the suites have indoor and outdoor shower facilities and overhead fans. The windows and sliding doors are fitted with screens while insect coils are also provided. Each suite has a private deck providing guests with the ideal place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Each suite also has electrical outlets for charging computers and camera batteries.

Sun/Mon: 21/22 September                        Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Early morning game drive as the sun rises and as the bush stirs into life. The ranger and tracker teams search for animals by tracking the spoor and listening to the sounds of the bush. Late afternoon game drive start as the sun moves over towards the horizon. The animals are now getting more active, many preparing for their hunt after dark. Sundowners in the bush are enjoyed and then the drive continues with the aid of powerful spotlights to reveal the world of the nocturnal species. (BLD) Nottens Bush Camp

Tuesday: 23 September                              Cheetah Plains

After the morning game drive activity we transfer by road to the next game lodge situated north from your current position but still within the Sabi Sands Game Reserve,an area renowned for big cats, again arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. At Cheetah Plains, you’ll be blown away by the abundant wildlife and unparalleled game viewing. The famous Sabi Sand reserve is world renowned for the Big Five – leopard, elephant, black & white rhinoceros, cape buffalo, and lion – but at Cheetah Plains you’ll see so much more. Think leopard, hyena, cheetah, hippopotamus, impala, lions, jackals, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and kudu – don’t forget the birds and fauna as well! (BLD) Overnight: Cheetah Plains



The eight traditionally-thatched chalets at Cheetah Plains melt into beautiful indigenous gardens, which in turn are surrounded by pristine African bushveld. All rooms have air conditioners as well as overhead fans to ensure your comfort – day and night. Breakfast at Cheetah Plains is a full English buffet whilst lunch is a simple affair, with hot and cold dishes. Afternoon tea includes fresh bakes and the 4 course dinners are either served in the dining room or around a roaring fire in the boma.

After the morning game drive activity transfer by road to the next game lodge, Ngala Safari Lodge, located in the Timbavati Game Reserve.  Arrive in time for lunch  and later board your 4×4 safari vehicle for a photographic opportunity into the African bush. (BLD) Overnight: Ngala Safari Lodge

Ngala Safari Lodge: 

Ngala was the first private game reserve to be incorporated into the two million hectare Kruger National park and the first three-way partnership between the private sector, the state and a non-governmental organization.  Game viewing here is remarkable and memorable – the Big Five and great herds of animals in pristine wilderness conditions. Bordering the northern regions of the Kruger National Park and with no fences between the two reserves the animals move freely. Timbavati Private Game Reserve is renowned for its great wildlife sightings; these include the famed wild white Lions of the Timbavati, leopard, wild dog, cheetah and many more. You will have two daily excursions into the bush with some down time in between to relax and enjoy the lodge. Monday:  29 September                            Madikwe Game Reserve

After the morning game drive, check out of the lodge and we transfer to Hoedspruit Airport where there is a charter plane ready to take you the short flight to the Madikwe Game Reserve.                                                                                                   

This 75 000 hectare reserve is situated in the North-West province of South Africa, on the border with Botswana. The large diversity of vegetation and ecozones allows for a rich diversity of game and bird species to inhabit the reserve. The reserve is home to 28 different mammal species which were released into the park through a relocation process called Operation Phoenix. This was the largest game translocation exercise in the world, with more than 8 000 animals being released into the reserve, starting in 1991 and the project was completed in 1997 and included the release of species such as elephant, both black and white rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wild dog, and other plains game species.

A luxury 5 star game lodge, is situated in Madikwe Game Reserve.  Daily game drives give you the opportunity to view a wide variety of wildlife species, including the Big 5 mammals.

Tue/Wed: 30 Sep/01Oct                Impodimo Game Lodge – Madikwe

Set out before breakfast by 4×4 safari vehicle for your morning game drive. Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool or the sala overlooking the waterhole where game may come to quench their thirst. In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out again on a sundowner safari, where you will stop to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise.
Once the sun has set and darkness descends, continue the safari where the more nocturnal creatures now rule the bush. Return to the lodge where you will be treated to the finest Pan-African cuisine with your hosts in the open air boma, and share your days adventures. (BLD) Impodimo Game Lodge
