This photographic safari will showcase South Africa’s tremendous wildlife together with its superb scenic splendor.  We will fly to the Greater Kruger Area where we will be spending nine nights in three different private reserves surrounding South Africa’s world renowned  Kruger National Park. With exclusive use of our 4×4 safari vehicles we will enjoy access to the Thornybush Private Reserve, Kruger National Park and Sabi Sabi Game Reserve. These are some of the best reserves in South Africa for wildlife photography! We will enjoy the thrill of photographing abundant wildlife in the African bush during early morning, afternoon and nighttime game drives. We will spend our last three nights on safari in Madikwe Private Reserve located along South Africa’s northern border with Botswana. The vast assortment of vegetation and eco zones here, allow for the rich diversity of wildlife and bird species that inhabit the reserve. We will be focusing our lenses on elephant, both black and white rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wild dog, and a myriad of other plains game species. This is a photo safari that is not to be missed!

 Tue/Wed: 12/13 September, 2017                       Depart Home/Enroute                                                           Let the adventure begin when you board your flight to Johannesburg and travel across the Atlantic.

Thursday: 14 September                                      Johannesburg                                                                   On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transfer to your hotel. (D) Overnight: Southern Sun Tambo Hotel

Friday: 15 September                                        Thornybush Game Reserve                                             After breakfast, fly to Hoedspruit Airport, a gateway to the Kruger National Park. Transfer by road to Chapungu Tented Camp located in the Thornybush Private Game Reserve.  Arrive in time for lunch and later board your 4×4 safari vehicle for a photographic opportunity into the African bush. CHAPUNGU TENTED CAMP: This luxury camp situated in Thornybush Game Reserve, with nearly 25,000 acres of pristine African Bushveld, adjacent to the Kruger National Park. The reserve offers a huge diversity of mammal and bird species with prime game viewing in an unspoiled area. Chapungu offers luxury tented accommodation in a private and secluded setting.

 Sat/Sun: 16/17 September                               Thornybush Game Reserve                                            Thornybush Game Reserve offers game drives in open vehicles and guided bush walks. We can expect to see lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and other general game on game drives and the bird watching in the area is prolific. The day begins with a game drive of approximately four hours, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. The night game viewing is an experience of its own. Nocturnal sightings might include bush babies, the elusive genet, or predators hunting and stalking their prey. Monday: 18 September                                                   Kruger National Park                                                              After our morning activity, we will transfer our next lodge situated in the Mluwati concession of the famous Kruger National Park and in an area renown for big cats, again arriving in time for lunch.

At Kruger National Park you’ll be blown away by the abundant wildlife and unparalleled game viewing. The famous park is world renowned for the Big Five – leopard, elephant, black & white rhinoceros, cape buffalo, lion and much more. Think leopard, hyena, cheetah, hippopotamus, impala, lions, jackals, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and kudu – don’t forget the birds and fauna as well! (BLD)  Overnight: Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

Thursday: 21 September                              Sabi Sand Game Reserve                                                 After the morning safari activity we will transfer by road to Nottens Bush Camp situated within the southern regions of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch.

The Sabi Sands is part of the largest Conservation area in South Africa and is the oldest of all the private reserves. It comprises of some 20 privately owned game lodges whose owners formed the association to promote and conserve the wildlife, fauna and flora of the reserve – there is no hunting allowed. It is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and there are no fences between the two reserves and game moves freely through this enormous reserve. NOTTENS BUSH CAMP: At Nottens you can enjoy superb game viewing on game drives and bush walks, or find a spot on the lodge deck and keep a look out for movement at the waterhole. This Sabi Sands accommodation features paraffin lamps and candles, which replace electric lighting and create an authentic, romantic bush experience. Each suite has an open plan bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. All the suites have indoor and outdoor shower facilities and overhead fans. The windows and sliding doors are fitted with screens while insect coils are also provided. Each suite has a private deck providing guests with the ideal place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Each suite also has electrical outlets for charging computers and camera batteries.

Fri/Sat: 22/23 September                                        Sabi Sand Game Reserve                                  Early morning game drive as the sun rises and as the bush stirs into life. The ranger and tracker teams search for animals by following the spoor and listening to the sounds of the bush. Late afternoon game drive start as the sun moves over towards the horizon. The animals are now getting more active, many preparing for their hunt after dark. Sundowners in the bush are enjoyed and then the drive continues with the aid of powerful spotlights to reveal the world of the nocturnal species.(BLD) Nottens Bush Camp

 Sunday: 24 September                                         Madikwe Game Reserve                                After breakfast, fly on a specially chartered flight to Madikwe Game reserve, situated in the North-West province of South Africa, on the border with Botswana. The vast variety of vegetation and eco zones allows for a rich diversity of wildlife and bird species to inhabit the reserve. The reserve is home to 28 different mammal species which were released into the park through a relocation process called Operation Phoenix. This was the largest game translocation exercise in the world, with more than 8,000 animals were released into the reserve, starting in 1991 and the project was completed in 1997. It included the release of species such as elephant, both black and white rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wild dog, giraffe and other plains game species.

A luxury 5 star game lodge, is situated in Madikwe Game Reserve.  Daily game drives give you the opportunity to view a wide variety of wildlife species, including the Big 5 mammals.

Impodimo Game Lodge is set along a rocky ridge commanding stunning vistas of the reserve. Mon/Tue: 25/26 September                  Madikwe Game Reserve                                                       Set out before breakfast by 4×4 safari vehicles for our morning game drive. Return from the excitement of the bush to a sumptuous breakfast or brunch and then relax at the pool or the sala overlooking the waterhole where game may come to quench their thirst. In the afternoon, when the heat of the African sun has diminished and the shadows are longer, head out again on a sundowner safari, where you will stop to watch the sun set on this bushveld paradise.
Once the sun has set and darkness descends, continue the safari where the more nocturnal creatures now rule the bush. Return to the lodge where you will be treated to the finest Pan-African cuisine with your hosts in the open air boma, and share your days adventures. (BLD) Impodimo Game Lodge

Wednesday: 27 September                       Madikwe to Johannesburg – Departure                                   A final game drive this morning is scheduled before returning to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, drive to Johannesburg to connect with your evening flight home.  (BL)
