Scattered along the banks lie 18 thatched chalets with covered verandas that look out over resident hippo pods. The newly updated rooms provide comfortable seating areas and en-suite bathrooms with spacious walk-in showers. The airy interior of the main lodge is an exquisite complement to its natural surroundings. The open floor plan featuring cozy sofas and chairs and African-chic styling incorporates a lounge, dining and bar area under a thatch roof supported by palm poles and dominated by two impressive chimneys at opposite ends. There is a broad timber deck where the swimming pool is situated, overlooking the main lagoon. From here you can relax and cool off while witnessing the parade of wildlife nearby.

Friday, May 27: Mfuwe Lodge

Morning and game afternoon viewing activities are planned for today which could be by 4×4 open vehicles and safari walks. The now famous “walking safari” originated in this park and is still one of the finest ways to experience this pristine wilderness firsthand. In between game drives, walks and mouthwatering meals, relax with a book on the library’s private deck, an ideal spot to take in the tranquility of Africa. The Luangwa River is one of the most intact major river system in Africa and is the life blood of the South Luangwa National Park. Mfuwe Lodge (BLD)

Saturday/Sunday/Monday, May 28/29/30: Bilimungwe Camp

Drive to Bililungwe Camp for 3 nights. Morning and game afternoon viewing activities are planned for the next 3 days which could be by 4×4 open vehicles and safari walks.

t’s hard not to be seduced by the charm of Bilimungwe. Here, the traditions of the African bush camp meet elegance and style to create a stunning camp that feels like it has grown organically out of the surrounding landscape. Set beneath a huge mahogany tree, the heart of Bilimungwe is the cool, shady lounge area that looks out over one of the camps three waterholes. Settle down in a cozy armchair with a sundowner and relax as you watch an enviable display of spectacular birds and animals that clearly feel as comfortable here as you do. With the open waters of the Luangwa River also on your doorstep and a nearby plain where leopard prowl, it’s clear that this is a nature-lovers paradise

Tues/Wed/Thur, May 31/June 01/02: Kapamba Camp

Drive to Kapamba Camp located In a remote corner of the South Luangwa lies Kapamba, a camp that combines the isolation and superb game-viewing opportunities of a true bush camp with a touch of luxury. Enjoy a sundowner on the riverside deck or sink into your own private plunge pool as the wildlife ambles past.

Set on the banks of the shallow, spring-fed eponymous river, Kapamba is surrounded by some of the park’s richest wildlife. Watching an elephant take a dip in the river can be quite an experience when you’re lounging in your own private plunge pool. The central bar and dining room is positioned under a huddle of matumi and sausage trees, with a wide deck that stretches out with views of the Kapamba River. And if that’s still not close enough for you, why not enjoy your G&T from the middle of the river itself, your feet dipped in the cool, crystal shallows.

Friday/Saturday/Sunday, June 03/04/05 : Kuyenda Camp

Our final stop for next 3 nights is Kuyenda Bush Camp. There’s something undeniably special about Kuyenda. Set beneath shady trees by the Manzi River, it may be the simplest of our camps, but Kuyenda Camp embodies the authentic charm of old Africa with its cluster of traditional thatched grass huts and back-to-nature feel. As for the wildlife, you hardly need look for it as it will come to you. Settle down in the lounge and look out over the rippling grasses of the neighboring plains where the drama of the African wilderness is played out each day and night,
