Daily itinerary

Aug 29: Tue – Arusha
Jambo! Welcome to Tanzania. Arrive in Kilimanjaro where our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha for the overnight. (D) Arusha Serena Lodge

Aug 30/31: Wed, Thur – Tarangire National Park

Safari briefing at breakfast prepares you for an exciting adventure. This morning drive to Tarangire National Park, named after the river that flows through the length of the park and provides a constant water source for the thousands of animals making their home here. Lunch is at the lodge and a late afternoon game drive will bring you close to a large variety  of wildlife. Two more game drives are planned for the next day. (BLD) Tarangire Safari Lodge

September 01/02: Fri/Sat – Ngorongoro Crater                                                                   

Breakfast and morning game drive. Continue to Ngorongoro Conservation area; host to the ‘birthplace of man’. It is also home to the unique intact caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is home to abundant game, including the “big five” – elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo. Enjoy lunch as you descend to the crater floor. Next day, a full day game drive in the crater is planned with a barbeque buffet lunch in the bush. (BLD) Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

September 03: Sunday – Nairobi                                                                                                          

After an early breakfast, we drive the scenic road to Arusha and continue to Kilimanjaro airport for your flight to Nairobi. Arrive at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport and transfer to your hotel for an overnight. (BLD) Sheraton Four Points Hotel Nairobi Airport.

September 04: Monday – Lions Bluff                                                                   

This morning we have a short flight to Lions Bluff Lodge. The lodge is freshly renovated and features spectacular, sweeping panoramic views over the golden green savannah rolling away to the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, the North and South Pare Mountains and the Taita Hills. Because of the water situation, wildlife in September should be tremendous! This is a spectacular lodge, set high on a rocky point, Lions Bluff, with fabulous views of the plains and valleys below. Photo opportunities will be in every direction!

September 05/06: Tue, Wed – Lions Bluff                                                   

For the next 2 days, explore the beauty and ruggedness of this game park with morning and afternoon game drives. (BLD) Lions Bluff

September 07: Thursday – Nairobi                                                                                      

Today we will board our plane for a short flight to Kenya’s most famous National Reserve, the Masai Mara. This is the best time of year for the famous migration river crossings. We also are going to the Mara to photograph the big cats; lions, leopards and cheetahs along with many other animals that live in the Mara all year round. Afternoon game drive enroute to our camp. September 08/09/10: Fri, Sat, Sun – Masai Mara National Reserve                                  

Three full days to enjoy the beauty and wilderness of the Mara with early morning and afternoon game drives. The Mara is home to the annual migration where millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle trek from the Serengeti plains into the Mara. At this time of year, the plains are normally loaded with wildlife as the great migration swarms across the Mara on its annual migratory cycle. Morning and afternoon game drives are planned to explore and photograph the abundant wildlife. Another great photography opportunity is an optional visit to a local Maasai village. Sept 11: Monday – Nairobi                                                              

Morning game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Later transfer to the airstrip for the flight to Nairobi where our representative will meet us and transfer us to the hotel.

Sept 12: Tuesday – Nairobi                                                              

After breakfast, we will continue to the Giraffe Center where you have an opportunity to pet and feed the Rothschild giraffes. We will proceed to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where you will be able to pet young, rescued elephants. In the afternoon you will have time to relax, repack or do some last-minute shopping. Dinner and later transfer to the airport for our flight home. (BLD) Dayroom
